As we approach the end of another school year, we are excited to prepare our children for the transition to their new classes in September.
At our school, we recognise that transitions can bring a range of emotions, from excitement and anticipation to uncertainty and worry. We are committed to ensuring that every child feels supported, confident and ready for the next stage of their learning journey.
To help with this process, each class has a Transition Booklet and a teacher introduction video, which can be accessed below. These resources have been designed to help children and families become familiar with their new classroom, teacher and routines before the start of the new academic year.
Our transition booklets provide children with an opportunity to learn more about their new class and what to expect in September.
Within each booklet you will find:
We encourage families to explore these booklets together over the summer holidays and use them as a starting point for conversations about the new school year.
Our teacher introduction videos are a fantastic way for children to become familiar with the adults who will be supporting them next year.
In each video, teachers will:
Many children find it helpful to watch these videos more than once during the summer as this helps build confidence and familiarity before returning to school.
Parents and carers play an important role in supporting successful transitions.
You can help your child by:
It is perfectly normal for children to experience a mixture of emotions during periods of change. Most children settle quickly once they return to school and reconnect with friends and staff.
We understand that some children may require more personalised support during transition. Where additional planning is needed, staff will work closely with families to ensure appropriate arrangements are in place.
If you have any concerns about your child's transition, please contact the class teacher and a member of staff will be happy to support you.
We are incredibly proud of all that our children have achieved this year and look forward to welcoming them into their new classes. We hope that these resources help children feel excited, prepared and confident for the year ahead. We wish all our families a safe, relaxing and enjoyable summer holiday.
