Welcome to the Year 2 class page. Here, you can find out about all the interesting and exciting things we get up to.

P.E

Please can you bring PE kits in on Mondays, these can remain in school for the week and be taken home each Friday. 

P.E. uniform: 

• Black shorts/joggers
• Black daps/trainers
• White or purple t-shirt. 

All clothing must be named to ensure a safe return. 

September -October 2024

Class 6 PE: every Wednesday and Friday.

Class 5 PE: every Friday.

Forest School:

Class 5 will start with forest school this half term.

Home Learning opportunities 

Reading 

Your child will be given a Read Write Inc, book bag book to read. This book will be matched to your child's phonic ability and will be changed weekly on their book change day.

They will also receive one Read Write Inc book that is the story that they have been reading as part of their Read Write Inc lessons. This will be giving once their group has finished reading it in class.

Our new approach to reading is to build the children's fluency. 

To do this, the children will read each book three times. 

The first time allows them for 'Fred talking' the words where they can sound out the word aloud and then blend it together.

The second read, we encourage the children to sound the words out in their head (Fred in their head). 

The third read is for fluency where children should now be able to read it without the need to sound out everything. 

Please talk to your child's class teacher should you need further advice or guidance. 

Spellings

Your child will soon receive weekly spellings. 

Numbots online Maths 

Your child will soon receive details of this website and a login. It is a great way of practising their number facts.
