If you have this story at home, you could read it instead.

 

Then...

Activity 1:

Can you write about what your favourite part of the story was.

What did you like/dislike?

What were your favourite words or sentences?

 

 

Activity 2:

Can you write a letter from the perspective of a coloured crayon explaining why you quit. You could use examples from the book to help you.

Maths:

 

 

Activity 1:

Partition numbers into tens and ones and complete corresponding number sentences.

e.g. 

 

41

40 + 1 = 41

30 + 11 = 41

20 + 21 = 41

10 + 31 = 41

0 + 41 = 41

 

Repeat with different numbers.

 

Activity 2:

 

Compare amounts of objects. You could use lego, pasta, rice etc.

 

Get two piles of objects.

Group them into tens. Any left over are your ones e.g. 20 and 5 is 25. 

Once you have worked out the total of both piles, use the symbols to compare them.
