VE Day

VE Day

Friday 8th May is VE (Victory in Europe) Day.

We have attached a number of activities for you to have a go at.  You can choose the ones you would like to do and do them whenever you would like to over the week.

On Friday, it would be nice if you could have a VE Day celebration with your family.  Perhaps join the ‘Nation’s Toast to the Heroes of WW2’ at 3pm and raise a glass saying, “To those who gave so much, we thank you.”

Can you make some decorations to put up in your house or garden?  Maybe you could make some bunting, paper chains, streamers or some flags to wave.  Think about what would be suitable colours to use.

What food might you serve at your celebration?  Maybe make a cake or some biscuits.

What music will you play?  Can you research music from the time?  There are some playlists on Spotify and Prime music.

We’d love to see some photos of what you have been up to!

Here are some links to video clips and information to help you learn a little more.  There is a rather catchy song in there for you to enjoy! We have also included Winston Churchill’s speech that he gave on VE Day.
