Monday:

Equal and unequal.

What does equal and unequal mean?

 

Gather two handfuls of cubes. Count the number of cubes in each hand. Do you have the same amount/equal amount in each hand? Which hand has more? EXT: Find the difference? How many more/less would we need in order to have an equal amount? Repeat.

 

Roll a dice. are the amounts equal. Write the matching number sentence for equal amounts. 

e.g. 4+4=8

6+6=12

 

Tuesday:

Count equal groups. Can you count equal groups and then write the addition sentence e.g. 3+3+3+3=12

Make your own array. How many rows are there? How many columns are there? What is the total amount?

 

Thursday:

Draw your own array. Record next to it the number of rows and the number of columns and the total number of counters you have altogether. 

 

EXT: Can they draw an array with a total of 6 counters etc
