27.4.20

MyMaths activity - Number facts and doubles.

Each activity has a lesson presentation to support understanding and then the activity.

28.4.20

True or False

On two different pieces of paper write the words 'true' and 'false'. Write some different subtraction and addition number sentences, some that are true and some that are false. There are printable resources attached if you wish but if you cannot print you can use these for ideas and easily make your own! :) Get your child to sort the number sentences into a 'true' and 'false' pile. You can use different practical objects or a number line to help work out the answers. You could make it more active by getting your child to do a different movement when taking their number sentence to either the 'true' or 'false' pile e.g hop, skip, jump or run. Encourage them to explain their answers and reasons, for example, why is 10 - 3 =6 false?

29.4.20

MyMaths activity - Number bonds.

Each activity has a lesson presentation to support understanding and then the activity.

30.4.20

Pirate Gold

At one end of the garden/room have your own made up 'treasure chest'. This could be a group of teddies, pretend treasure, counters etc. On pieces of paper write down different 1 or 2 digit numbers and place them around the room/garden. Get your child to race and find two different numbers and decide if they have to subtract or add their two numbers together. There are printable resources attached if you wish but if you cannot print you can use these for ideas and easily make your own! :) You can use different practical objects or a number line to help work out the answers. Each correct answer = one piece of 'treasure'. Challenge: How many pieces of 'treasure' can you win in 5 minutes?

1.5.20

Number Spider

On a piece of paper get your child to draw a big spider (or you can print one from the document attached). Put a number in the middle of the spider. Can your child work out different ways of making that number by either writing addition or subtraction number sentences around the outside of the spider, for example, if you put 12 in the middle, one of the number sentences may be '14-2=12'. To make it more of a challenge, you could give a time limit e.g how many number sentences can you write for that number in 3 minutes?
