Physical Education

Within our Physical Education we aim to engage and challenge every child. Its unique, child-centered approach develops the key abilities children need to be successful within sport and PE and across the curriculum. Lessons focus on the development of agility, balance and coordination, healthy competition and cooperative learning.

We feel passionate about developing outstanding sportsmanship. Our ‘Sporting Spirits’ initiative celebrates and promotes the behaviours, qualities and interpersonal skills of an outstanding sportsman through reflecting on sporting experiences and attitudes. The six ‘Sporting Spirit’ values of passion, belief, respect, honesty, determination and teamwork are central to developing rounded individuals both on and off the sports field.

Sport plays a very important part in the life of the school. As active members of the Tone School Sport Partnership children of a variety of ages have numerous opportunities to take part in festivals and competitions run at venues throughout Taunton, these include:

Football Hockey
Netball Multi- Sports
Tag Rugby Tennis
Kwik Cricket Invasion Games
Swimming Striking and Fielding Games
Rounders Outdoor Education
Athletics

Orienteering

All these activities are thoroughly enjoyed by the pupils and offer valuable introductions to development of sports skills.
